McDonalds McOatmeal!

McDonald's joining Starbucks with oatmeal

More evidence that oatmeal for breakfast is a growing trend:
According to the L. A. Times, McDonald's restaurants will begin selling a maple-flavored oatmeal mixture for $1.99 beginning this week. The cereal will also contain apples, raisins, cranberries and cream and will be served in a cardboard cup. McDonald's has probably seen the success that Starbucks has had selling oatmeal over the several years ago. Jamba Juice has also added it to their menu.
Oatmeal is a great comfort food, and gives McDonald's a new, healthy option for breakfast guests.
Will this contribute to a further surge for oatmeal and hot cereals in general?

Alice Cooper to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Industry insiders are reporting that rock and metal legend Alice Cooper will finally be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on March 14, 2011 at its 26th yearly induction ceremony.
Alice Cooper began as the lead singer and frontman of the band of the same name with the release of their debut album, Pretties For You, in 1969. Cooper launched his solo career in 1975 with the release of the concept album, Welcome To My Nightmare, an epic recording that was produced by the brilliant Bob Ezrin.
Cooper established himself firmly in the era of shock rock and early glam metal — his career spanning beyond 30 years, and releasing songs such as School’s Out, Poison, Hey Stoopid, and Brutal Planet. He is known for his concept albums, and theatrical live performance that featured the “execution of Alice Cooper” every night — usually portrayed as death by guillotine. He’s left such an impact on the music world and would eventually become a massive influence on almost all sub-genre of metal.

It appears that all members of the original Alice Cooper band might be in consideration for this Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, as Alice Cooper released a statement saying, “On behalf of Dennis (Dunaway), Neal (Smith), Michael (Bruce) and the late great Glen (Buxton), we are honored to be nominated for induction in to the Hall. Anytime you are nominated in your chosen profession, it’s definitely a compliment to be recognized”.
Alice Cooper will be inducted along with Neil Diamond, Tom Waits, Dr. John, and Darlene Love at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, which will be televised live on Fuse.
In the meantime, Alice Cooper and Bob Ezrin are continuing work on Welcome To My Nightmare II, an album penned to be the sequel to the original continuing the story of “when Steven met Alice Cooper“. Cooper states that the new album is “more bloody” than the first, and according to Wikipedia, there are also indications that original Alice Cooper bandmates Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, and Michael Bruce have reunited with the frontman for three new songs on the album.

Were doomed....NASA has found an Arsenic based life form on earth!

At a 2pm EST press conference later today, NASA is expected to announce that they have found an alien life form on Earth, in a lake in California (of all places). Now before you go wrapping tinfoil around your head and holing up in a makeshift bunker with a rifle and an AM radio, the life form is a simple bacteria and it's being described as "alien" not like the blue-light special aliens of SKYLINE but more in the basic sense of the word: An organism that appears in a region to which it is not native. UPDATE - As BojacRedleif points out below in the comments, NASA has not yet confirmed the bacteria is technically "alien" but are expected to speak more to its origins later today.
So why do I share this with you? Has Steven Spielberg already optioned the life rights to the bacteria. No, not yet but this is truly science fiction come true. I'll spare you the nerdy details but all Earthlings are made up of six basic elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. This new bacteria replaces phosphorus with arsenic, something that has never been seen before. It obviously proves that forms of life radically different than humans exist in our universe and, well, may be on their way here to battle for supremacy and suck our brains out.
Details on exactly how NASA came to find and document this new lifeform will be revealed later today and we'll update accordingly. But if you've seen HUBBLE 3D, you know just how mindbendingly large the universe is and with this new discovery, it's hard not to think that movies we once thought of as science fiction could soon become science....non-fiction?

Benji remake???

Most kids today probably have no idea who or what BENJI is but that's about to change. Fox and Walden are teaming up on a reboot of the classic film series about a heroic stray dog. Writing and directing the film will be Joe Camp, Jr. (LOVE HAPPENS) who just happens to be the son of Joe Camp, creator of the franchise.
Camp says he's launching a nationwide search to find a new Benji with hopes that, like the original dog, he can find a stray in a dog pound.
He said he paired with Walden because they're interested in the "true emotional journey that Benji went on." Benji went on an emotional journey? I think the kids, specifically that poor little girl bound and gagged in the poster above, was slightly more emotionally traumatized that Benji.
The original BENJI cost only $100,000 and went on to gross over $40 million.

Bring Elvira home to stay with you!

At long last I can have Elvira laid back on the couch waiting for me at home! WhooHoo! This is a a plastic Aurora style Kit from Mobeious Models the successors of Polarlights. With Elvira heading back to tv stations to do what she does this is perfectly timed and fantastic!

I can remeber the days when kits like this were resin garagekits and set you back hundreds of dollars.

Funko The Fly Wacky Wobbler!

For awhile I thought I had enough of Funko after Becker was outed. I was getting tired of the repaints and so forth. Then I saw the Saucerman,Gort, and Robby and I was sucked back in! I waited to see if there would any more horror sci-fi Funko's coming. So I waited and waited and then The FLY! There just hasn't been enough classic Fly stuff made!

Go Lions/Voltron Shogun Warrior!

Quite a while back I wrote about the return of Jumbo Machindiers. I did not expect this! Retro Shogun warriors! First up is the Go Lions better known to us as Voltron! I can already hear my wife saying "Another robot toy? you have more toys than a Toys 'R" Us honey!" Very true.

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus

Will the Asylum ever stop with this? Is the Mega Shark there Gamera? When I first heard of this it was Mega Shark vs Gigantosaurus, but I guess they wanted to rip off Roger Cormans Dinocroc and Supergator flicks. I wonder what else the Mega Shark will face of against? Colossal Alien Hunters perhaps?

Spiderman the Musical is frighteningly real!

I've heard about this for quite sometime and always hoped it would never get off the ground, but god help us here it is! The funky metal chic with the sharp edges is a villian created especially for the production and her name is...Swiss Miss???????? I kid you not Swiss Miss! Alrighty then....

This is what Spiderman directed by Tusi Hark would look like on film.

The Invisibleman vs The Fly! Yes This was a real movie!

Yes way back in the 50's there was a japanese Invisibleman flick and it did quite well so a follow-up was made. In it a man aquires the ability to shrink himself to the size of a housefly and uses this ability to commit murder of beautiful ladies. The police dub him The Fly.  A physicist developes a machine to make objects invisible and he and his colleagues decid to use it on the physicist to make him invisible so he can stop the murderous Fly. This reminds me of an unmade Toho follow-up to the Human Vapor where he was to battle a human torch type of person.

Godzilla the Animated series on Netflix streaming!

Yes the movie it's based on suck scales! The toon though was quite good. What made it good you ask? Well for starters the gave the beasties fire breath and a but load of monsters to sqaure of against. My personal favorites were the three part story arc that essentially was an updated Destroy All Monsters epic! I also like the episode where it fought the giant Robo gorilla. Netflix even has a couple of episodes that never aired in the USA too!

Now if they would get of there tails and put this on actual dvd/blu-ray that would rock! The two or three three episode discs from a couple years back just don't cut it!

Revoltech Rodan!

I love revoltech figures! Rodan looks incredible! I'm hoping and praying for Gorosaurus and Sanda to come down the pipe from Revoltech.

Acme warehouse the movie??????

Yes you read that right? A movie based on the Looney Tunes A.C.M.E warehouse. The logic is that Locationcentirc flicks like Night at the Museum 1,2 and the upcoming Disney Magic Kingdom have (and in MagicKingdoms case will) do well at the box office. The one point that really strikes me as odd is that absolutely no Looney Tunes characters will be in it? How can you have a A.C.M.E. movie without Willey P. Coyote? Seriously how can you?

Chuckie Cheese Pez!

Normally I could careless about Chuckie Cheese premuims, but this definately is something worth getting your hands on. It's a bit expensive for a Pez though as it will set you back $3.99.

AMT BIGFOOT model reissiued as a glow kit!!!!!!!!!

I had a total geekgasim over the sight of this! I loved the original kit and always loved the Aurora Glow kits. So this is the definition of "crazygroovycool!" I wonder if Loren Colemen will stock these in the International Cryptozoology Museum?

Peter Venkman on the Spike Scream Awards!

For years now we have been teased and waited for Ghostbusters 3. For years the biggest road block was Bill "freaking" Murray. Recently serious talk of Ghostbusters 3 was flying around, a new script, Ackroid saying it's a go, Ramis saying it was a go, Weaver saying it was a go, and Murray being a dick about the whole thing. Was any of it for real?

Fast forward to Zombieland and Bill Murray plays himself and shows his house guest Ghostbusters in his home theater, his character is the SDCC exclusive for the retro Ghostbusters figures, He then says he would work with everybody on a new flick! hearts skip a beat! The Bill goes back to dick head mode talking shit about the project, then the Scream awards and well see for yourself....

Are we or are we not going to get Ghostbusters "freaking" 3?

Hell yeah! Been way to long since the King of the Monsters has been on the racks. IDW negotiated not only Godzilla but several other Toho characters/monsters aswell. This should be a bit more exciting than the ape people from Godzilla vs.MechaGodzilla DarkHorse shilled it out for back in the 90's. Heres a cover by Eric (The Goon)Powell.

Toys "R" us "R" Mart????????

Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: TRU CARS Budget? How’s About Some Cereal & Beef Jerky?

Apparently TRU is going to be the world’s largest 7-11.*
tru-food
“On Wednesday, Toys “R” Us will announce the opening in 260 of its 585 stores a new convenience section called the “R” Market, which will offer an assortment of consumables and household items such as cereal, macaroni and cheese, canned food, granola bars, cleaning supplies, paper goods, hand soap, juice boxes and nonperishable milk. The “R” Markets will also offer a wider variety of diapers, baby food and other infant supplies for Toys “R” Us consumers. The company will open “R” Markets in additional stores by the end of the year.”
So in case you’re wondering what exactly TRU is budgeting for purchasing, it ain’t toys or CARS but hand soap and mac & cheese? … gee, where else would we find such staples of life?
Via Time magazine which actually also points out …
“For example, a collectible Lighting McQueen, the main character in the hit Pixar movie Cars, costs $2.97 at Wal-Mart. At Toys “R” Us, he and other key characters go for $3.59. Monopoly is $10.44 at Wal-Mart and $12.99 at Toys “R” Us. Here’s a real shocker: at Wal-Mart, a “Surf’s Up” Barbie doll — basically, Barbie in a bathing suit — costs just $5.44. The retail price at the Phillipsburg Toys “R” Us: $19.99.”
It’s a nice feature that also raises the other issue that kids might not really appreciate being in the Clorox aisle :-/
Though TRU is claiming the only space being given over to this is for 4+ clothes which they will stop selling … and they are going to reconfigure for more toys … okay, we’ll believe that when we see it …
*At least 7-11 has slurpees!

Sym-Bionic Titan

I'm really juiced up and waiting for this one. It looks like a cross between Tetsujin 28/Gigantor and Izen-Borg. The alien characters landed here on earth awhile back and weekly or every day must face off against evil threats. They do this by way of sym-bionic link with the Titan robot ala Izen Borg. This is set to show on Cartoon Network and is the brain child of Gendy Tatarosky, the man behind Dexters Lab,Samurai Jack, the Clone Wars non cgi toons, ect...

Godzilla wine???????

Not exactly what I think of when I think of Godzilla. I admit the bottle looks cool though. Do you think they'll market Gamera cheese to go with it?

Final packaging for the Marvel Legends Galactus!

A whopping 19 inches of planet munching cosmic power! The first time I saw this bad boy it was in a gate fold box, but now its carded! This will be a pain to find mint because of the blister card.

Hot Wheels Wonder Womans Invisible Jet plane exclusive!

This was originally a joke on Face Book back on April first, but it proved so popular that it is now going to be a 2010 SDCC exclusive! So this joins the ranks of the Tantaun Sleeping bag and Mo-Larr as gags that are now for real. This also envokes the Sideshow totally Invisibleman action figure from a few years back.

Cool SDCC 2010 Swag!

Theres always cool stuff to be had at the SDCC. Check out some these goodies! I really want the Mego Peter Venkman! Looks like Mo-Lar is a two pack with Skeletor!

Doctor Who action figure 11 pack!

This is cool as hell! I like Doctor Who and have wanted the figures for a while, but trying to track down all of the different doctors was a pain. That has now been remedied by Entertainment Earth.

Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet!

I'm still on the fence about this one. It is interesting to see a slim Seth Rogen though. From what I've seen of the trailer it's pretty much over the top. An origin story and some rampaging around in the Black Beauty.
